The President of the Trade Union Congress, Festus Osifo has alleged that the demands for a minimum wage of N62,000 and N250,000 has been submitted to the President. He noted that this decision was reached by the tripartite committee, signifying a unified stance on the proposed figures.
He further elaborated that the next step involves the President reviewing these proposals and subsequently forwarding them to the National Assembly. From the perspective of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, he clarified that there is no definitive agreement at this stage on the minimum wage.
He said in an interview with Channels TV, ''The last meeting we had on the minimum wage was held last week Friday. We agreed that N62,000 and N250,000 demand will be forwarded to Mr. President. And that was what the tripartite committee agreed upon. And so probably that has gotten to the table of Mr. President. And so the President will now forward it back to the National Assembly and it will now depend on a lot of factors and consultation le. And so for us in Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, our understanding is that there is no agreement yet.''
