Court Adjourns Yahaya Bello's Arraignment to June 27

The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday, has adjourned the arraignment of the immediate past governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello for June 27, 2024.
Justice Emeka Nwite, fixed the date for the defendant's arraignment and plea, in the money laundering suit instituted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission against Bello.
At the resumed hearing, Bello's counsel, Adeola Adedipe, told the court that both parties already had a meeting outside the court where they agreed on a date.
He said EFCC's lead counsel, Kemi Pinehero, had approached one of Bello's counsels, AbdulWahab Mohammed, that the June 13 (today) date, would not be convenient for them to proceed and both parties discussed by way of convenience for another date to be set.

Former governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Rivers State, Magnus Abe, has described the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike as the political leader of state.
Abe said Wike is leading President Bola Tinubu's agenda in Rivers State.
He spoke in Port Harcourt while addressing his supporters from Obio/Akpor local government area of the state.
According to Abe: "We are going with Tinubu. Wike is the leader, the driver of Tinubu's bus in Rivers State. So, we are entering the bus. So, let us go with one mind and do the best that we know how to do. We are performers.
"Of course, it is politics; there must be quaking, there must be pushing and there must be shoving. If you don't see them in politics, you are not in the right politics."

Governor of Anambra state, Charles Soludo has called for elected officials to start earning minimum wage, highlighting the urgent financial crisis facing Nigeria.
Speaking on Wednesday at a special edition of The Platform, an event organized by The Covenant Nation to promote national development, Soludo emphasised that Nigeria is financially strained.
The event coincided with the celebration of Nigeria's 25 years of uninterrupted democracy.
Soludo pointed out that Nigeria's economic woes are exacerbated by the extravagant lifestyles of government officials, which are sustained at the expense of the nation's wealth.
Nigerian Army Arrests Hundreds Of Suspects Over Abia Attack, Killing Of Soldiers

The Nigerian Defence Headquarters has said that troops of Operation Udoka have arrested hundreds of suspects allegedly involved in the attack and killing of five soldiers at a checkpoint in Abia state.
The Director Defence Media Operation, Major General Edward Buba, who made this known on Thursday during a bi-weekly media briefing in Abuja said that the troops conducted several offensives in Abia State within the week and arrested hundreds of people in connection with the incident.
Buba however noted that after the arrest and further investigation were conducted, those found not to be involved in the attack and killing of the soldiers were released while those who were actively involved in the incident were put in custody.
