According to the Mirror, Manchester United are willing to double Wolverhampton Wanderer's attacker Matheus Cunha's wages to lure him to Old Trafford this summer.
The Brazilian star joined Wolves from Athletico Madrid just 17 months back and has already scored 14 goals and eight assists in all competitions for the English side.
His full debut season has been a success and several clubs are impressed by Cunha's aggressive and dynamic displays upfront.
Man United have Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford as the only recognized strikers. Last season, Alejandro Garnacho, Hojlund, Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay were the only names to register double figures for goals scored.
Hence, Erik Ten Hag's side needs a more consistent player to deliver in attack. Hojlund was forced to lead the line at such a young age as Anthony Martial remained sidelined for the majority of the season.
Although he was impressed with 16 goals, there were times when he struggled to get going in certain games and also went on long goal droughts.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe's management wants to add a new striker to reduce the burden on the 21-year-old and provide more options in attack.
With French ace Martial set to leave the club this summer, it will be prudent for INEOS to target Wolves star Cunha. They are now ready to double his current £60,000 weekly wages.
The 25-year-old could help United compete for major trophies by improving their poor goal-scoring record. Ten Hag's side managed to score only 57 goals in the 2023-24 Premier League season and finished eighth in the table.
However, they were still able to land a spot in the Europa League after winning the FA Cup. This will boost their chances of luring Cunha and the financial package will be hard to resist.
It remains to be seen whether Wolves ask for an astronomical fee for their prized asset since the South American striker's contract expires in 2027.
The Red Devils might go after West Ham United's Mohammed Kudus if they fail to sign Cunha.
