Netizens React To Video Of Primary School Students Singing The New National Anthem

A video currently circulating on social media which shows some primary school students singing the recently reinstated Nigerian national anthem is causing numerous mixed reactions.

The anthem, known as "Nigeria, We Hail Thee" was initially adopted as Nigeria's national anthem after the country's Independence in October 1960. It was written by Lillian Jean Williams, a British expatriate who lived in Nigeria when it achieved independence.

The lyrics of the second national anthem, "Arise O Compatriots" were created by five Nigerians: P. O. Aderibigbe, John A. Ilechukwu, Dr. Sota Omoigui, Eme Etim Akpan and B.A. Ogunnaike, and it was adopted in 1978 as Nigeria's national anthem.

A day after "Nigeria We Hail Thee" was signed into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the video shows the primary school students singing the national anthem is now going viral due to how it was perfectly sung by the students.

The new national anthem have so far drawn numerous praises and criticisms as Nigerians shared different views on it.
