The Nigerian Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, gave a powerful speech during the event to officially open the 700-kilometer Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, which was presided over by President Bola Tinubu.
Akpabio assured Tinubu that Nigeria is doing well and that the people of Nigeria are solidly in support of him. He used a metaphor to compare the president to a lion leading people along a jungle road, highlighting the fact that when such strong support is there, there is no reason to fear criticism or difficulties.
In a video shared by Arise TV, Akpabio said, "Nigerians are behind you, and don't be afraid of those who will criticize."
Inspiring the crowd, Akpabio said that Nigerians should feel secure in the knowledge that their fellow countrymen are rooting for them, much as one would feel comfortable with a lion behind them.
He emphasized, "In this country, Nigerians are behind you," imploring everyone-including President Tinubu-to face criticism without fear.
He continued by saying that while detractors may express their thoughts today, they will recognize the achievements the next day.
