When People Say Abuja is a City, I Ask Myself, What Makes It a City? No Good Roads/Light-Nyesom Wike

In a video posted by Arise TV, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of FCT, expressed his initial scepticism about Abuja being considered a city due to its poor infrastructure, including inadequate roads and lighting. He questioned the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) about their responsibilities and tasked them with presenting a plan to address these issues.

He highlighted that the ministry has initiated a comprehensive road rehabilitation project, targeting areas like Maitama and Garki. He revealed that significant progress has been made, with many roads now renovated, transforming the city's landscape and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.

According to him, "When people say Abuja is a city, I ask myself, What makes it a city? No good roads, no light. I said no. I called the executive secretary. FCDA, come, what is your work here? Tell me, what is your work? Look at the whole street; you can't have a good road to say it's a city. I said no; I said I don't know what you're doing. I want to see the paper on my table in the next one week. In every state in Maitama, Garki, we have to rehabilitate them. Today, you can attest to the fact that most of the roads have been rehabilitated."
