According to the report, President Bola Tinubu has relieved Chukwuemeka Woke of his duties as the Managing Director (MD) of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority (OORBDA).
The announcement was made by Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale in a statement released on Wednesday.
Woke, who previously served as Chief of Staff to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during Nyesom Wike's tenure as governor of Rivers State, had been appointed as head of the authority by President Tinubu on May 9, 2024. However, regional representation.
In response to the public outcry, Ngelale disclosed that Woke has been replaced by Dr. Adedeji Ashiru. Tinubu has reassigned Woke to the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) as the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer.
According to Ngelale, "Engr. Woke, besides being an engineer, is an environmental specialist and politician. He holds a bachelor's degree in chemical/Petrochemical Engineering and has served under the Environmental, Safety, and Operations Departments of the then Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). He was Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State and Chief of Staff at the Government House in Port Harcourt for many years."
Commenting on Dr. Ashiru, Ngelale stated, "Dr. Ashiru holds a Doctorate in Engineering from the Commonwealth University, UK, and has led a consortium of blue-chip companies, in addition to earning many stripes in his professional endeavor."
The President has charged the newly appointed Chief Executive Officers with deploying their competencies to these critical agencies to ensure sustainable gains and turnaround, emphasizing the importance of maintaining transparency in their operations.
