Bruno Fernandes is reportedly expected to remain with Manchester United this summer despite the recent speculation surrounding his future at Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old has again been in strong form for the Red Devils during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring 15 goals and registering 11 assists in 45 appearances in all competitions.
Meanwhile, the Portugal international has 79 goals and 64 assists in 230 appearances for the club since his arrival from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020.
Fernandes has a contract at Old Trafford until June 2026, with the option of a further 12 months, but there has recently been speculation that he could leave this summer.
Saudi Arabian clubs are believed to be keen on the Portuguese, while it has been reported that Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are also interested in his signature.
Fernandes 'expected to remain with Man United'
Earlier this month, Fernandes refused to rule out a summer exit, claiming that a decision on his future would not be made until after Euro 2024.
However, according to The Athletic, the former Sporting Lisbon playmaker is widely expected to remain with Man United beyond the end of this summer's transfer window.
The report claims that Fernandes and his representatives met with senior figures at Man United last week to discuss his future with the 20-time English champions.
The Red Devils are believed to have made it clear that they have no desire to let him leave, while the Red Devils captain also expressed that he wants to stay, providing that the club match his ambitions.
An exit has allegedly not been 100% ruled out, but all of the signs are currently pointing towards Fernandes being central to the club's rebuild.
Fernandes could return against Newcastle on Wednesday
The midfielder has missed Man United's last two Premier League matches against Crystal Palace and Arsenal due to injury, but he could make his return against Newcastle United on Wednesday night.
Erik ten Hag's side will finish their Premier League season against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday before tackling Manchester City in the FA Cup final on May 25.
"He is, also now, but I think in all the years, I think he was a tremendously important player for Manchester United and creating the most chances across the whole Premier League," Ten Hag told reporters when asked about Fernandes during his press conference on Tuesday.
"So many assists, so many goals, it is clear he is a very important player for us."
Fernandes has scored seven times and registered two assists in his last eight Premier League appearances for the 20-time English champions.
