Newly appointed Super Eagles manager, Finidi George, has been dealt a blow ahead of the upcoming fixtures against South Africa and Benin Republic, as defender Bright Osayi-Samuel has suffered an injury, according to Sport Brief.
According to reports from Turkish club Fenerbahçe, Osayi-Samuel sustained an injury to his left ankle during their recent league clash against Konyaspor. The 26-year-old was substituted in the 52nd minute of the game and further medical examination revealed oedema, bleeding, and a tear in his left ankle.
Fenerbahçe has confirmed that treatment for the defender has commenced immediately, but the injury is likely to keep him out of action for the majority of the next month. This news comes as a significant blow to Finidi George, who was already dealing with issues in defense.
Vice-captain William Troost-Ekong remains doubtful for the fixture, while combative forward Moses Simon and defender Zaidu Sanusi have already been ruled out of the tie with long-term injuries.
