Musician Seun Kuti has disclosed that his father, Fela Kuti left him no inheritance before he died due to his benevolent acts.
Seun Kuti described how his late father, Fela Kuti, the father of Afrobeat, left him without any legacy due to his charitable works.
He said that because of Fela Kuti's generosity when his father passed away, he had nothing though as a student his daily stipend had exceeded his teacher's pay.
According to Seun, before his father passed away, he was providing food for almost a thousand people in his Kalakuta community.
Speaking in a live Instagram video, Kuti said,
"When Fela was the top musician in Nigeria, we were living with about 500 people in our house. All the money I was meant to inherit, Fela used it to cater for people.
"Everyone in Kalakuta was receiving daily allowance and weekly salaries. Both Kalakuta and [African] shrine. Almost 1000 people. They were artisans... We had all the professions in Kalakuta.
"My pocket money in 1990, throughout my primary school was N100 per day. My pocket money a day was bigger than my teacher's salary."
