According to report, Kwara State garners positive attention as thirty-one students from two of its schools achieve impressive scores ranging from 300 to 358 in the recently concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Among these students is Master Samuel Oluwasemilore from Government Secondary School, Omu Aran, who attained a remarkable score of 358 in the examination.
Additionally, thirty students from Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Model College, Ilorin, achieved scores between 300 and 355.
This notable achievement by Kwara students contrasts with the revelation by JAMB of widespread failure in the examination nationwide this year.
Out of the 1,904,189 candidates who sat for the UTME, results for 1,842,464 were released, with 76% scoring below 200.
The governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, expressed his delight at the outstanding performance of the state's students.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor commended Samuel Oluwasemilore's remarkable score and emphasized the significance of such achievements as motivating examples for other students to strive for excellence.
The governor highlighted that these successes reflect ongoing improvements in the state's education sector, citing Kwara's representation at the World School Debate in Singapore as another recent accomplishment.
Assuring continued progress, Governor AbdulRazaq affirmed the state's commitment to surpassing its own achievements.
He noted the positive impact of initiatives like the KwaraLEARN program, which leverages technology to enhance learning, and highlighted the state executive council's approval for its statewide implementation.
Looking ahead, the governor expressed optimism that the coming years would yield even more impressive learning outcomes for Kwara State.
