A young Nigerian student who got pregnant out of wedlock and is abandoned by her family garners emotional support for her outstanding performance in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Despite being out of school for several years, the brilliant girl achieved an aggregate score of over 200 marks.
A social media user identified as @winexviv on X shared her inspiring story, revealing that she faced hardships after getting pregnant out of wedlock and being abandoned by her family. This led to the termination of her formal education, forcing her to work night shifts at a pure water factory.
Despite her challenging circumstances, the determined girl enrolled in a UTME class and attended classes in the morning due to her job.
She also participated in training sessions for computer-based testing (CBT), all to transform her life. The social media user pledged to support her in gaining admission to a university.
In his words,
"We had this young little girl who got pregnant out of wedlock in my village. Her family abandoned and her formal education was terminated. She started working in a pure water factory. Her shift is usually at night.
"When she heard about our JAMB prep program she decided to give education another shot. She had to be joining the lessons from work every morning and returning back to work every evening. On CBT days she does the same thing.
She took this JAMB exam and scored 210. Her determination to make amends are errors is second to none. We will ensure she gets into school."
