Finidi George expected to earn ₦30-40 million monthly as new Super Eagles coach

Former Super Eagles media officer Toyin Ibitoye has weighed in on the salary expectations for newly-appointed Nigeria coach Finidi George, anticipating a significant pay package from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

After nearly two months without a permanent manager, the NFF unveiled Finidi George as the new head coach for the Super Eagles.

With his extensive experience, including serving as an assistant under former coach Jose Peseiro and leading the team in recent international fixtures, Finidi's appointment brings anticipation and expectations for a successful tenure.

Finidi George's salary expectation

According to reports from Ojora Babatunde on X, Ibitoye highlighted the precedent set by previous foreign coaches' salaries, advocating for equitable compensation for indigenous coaches like Finidi.

"The last foreign coaches we had, one was $48,000, the other was $70,000. How much are we going to be paying Finidi George? It shouldn't be anything less than ₦30-40 million a month," emphasised Ibitoye.

Speaking on the transition, Ibitoye noted the significance of the appointment and hinted at the challenges ahead. "Finidi's immediate job is to lead Nigeria in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin.

"If he fails to do so, he could be booted out," Ibitoye affirmed, underscoring the importance of securing positive results in upcoming fixtures.
