On this day, April 29th 1945, Austrian-born German politician Adolf Hitler married his long-time partner Eva Braun in a Berlin bunker.
Hitler was the dictator of Nazi Germany who rose to power with his radical ideology. During his dictatorship, he initiated the European theatre of World War II by invading Poland on 1 September 1939.
He was closely involved in military operations throughout the war and was central to the perpetration of the Holocaust: the genocide of about six million Jews and millions of other victims.
His marriage to Eva happened hours before they both died by suicide.
Deadly attack on Nigeria's Bayero university Leaves 16 Dead
Also on this day in 2012, at least 16 people were killed in a gun and bomb attack at Bayero university in Nigeria's northern city of Kano, Nigerian Red Cross officials revealed.
Six others were in a serious condition following the attack at the University campus where Christian worshippers were holding a service.
The Kano attack took place in one of the Bayero University's lecture theatres used as a place of worship by Christians.
