Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in the forthcoming election in Edo State, took to the streets of Benin City on Saturday, leading a Fitness Walk.
The event drew thousands of supporters and party members in what is popularly seen as a show of popularity by the LP candidate.
The Fitness Walk saw participants marching side by side through the Ancient City of Benin.
In a statement shared on social media, Akpata expressed deep humility and gratitude for the overwhelming support and enthusiasm displayed by the attendees.
He emphasized the significance of grassroots engagement in driving political transformation and pledged to continue the journey towards his vision for a prosperous and inclusive state.
His words: "I joined members of the Labour Party, Obidients family and thousands of supporters as we walked side by side on the streets of the Ancient City of Benin on Saturday, our footsteps echoing our unwavering commitment to bring about positive change to our beloved Edo State.
"I am deeply humbled by the overwhelming support and enthusiasm displayed by the members of the Obidients family who organized the Fitness Walk and gratified by the presence of our numerous supporters and Party members who came out in their large numbers.
"Rest assured, the journey continues, and together, we will march to our destination, Dennis Osadebey Avenue, and pave the way for a prosperous and inclusive Edo State where every citizen can thrive."
