Arsenal has big plans to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer window. Most notably, Mikel Arteta is linked with a new centre forward, left-back and central midfielder to bolster his squad. However, it is also stated that the Gunners are in-line for a move for a new winger, to improve their depth on the flanks.
One player who Arsenal have shown a keen interest in recently is Michael Olise. The Crystal Palace winger has been a long-term transfer target of Mikel Arteta's and it is clear to see why given his creative brilliance and set-piece expertise.
However, Arsenal might not be the preferred destination for Michael Olise. After all, the Crystal Palace winger has made an admission involving Manchester United, which will be of interest to Arsenal fans.
According to 90min, Michael Olise is keen on signing for Manchester United this summer. It is also stated within the report that Chelsea have dropped their interest, which could leave United as the frontrunners should they wish to sign Olise. Interestingly, there is no mention of Arsenal within the report.
Looking at this transfer link from a macro perspective, Michael Olise was always going to be the third, maybe even fourth choice transfer this summer. As mentioned, Arsenal needs to strengthen in other positions before they can consider signing a winger, which is not an immediate area of concern for Mikel Arteta.
While it would have been great to sign Michael Olise given his Premier League experience and ability to add to the creative hub at Emirates Stadium, it might be worth the club taking a backseat here and swooping in only if necessary.
