Arsenal had a tough opponent to face in the UEFA Champions League today when they hosted German Giants Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium to play their quarter-final encounter. It was indeed an intense game of football between both teams as they settled for an entertaining 2-2 draw courtesy of goals from Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, Harry Kane, and Serge Gnarby.
Gabriel Martinelli was given the opportunity to start this match for Arsenal against Bayern Munich. The Brazilian International failed to live up to expectations with his performance as he performed unconvincingly in this encounter. The 22-year-old barely posed any serious threat to Bayern Munich's defense line in the match as he looked very dull and toothless on the attack for the Gunners.
Based on my opinion, Gabriel Martinelli's awful performance in this match explains why he shouldn't be starting ahead of Leandro Trossard. It baffles sometimes how Gabriel Martinelli gets to start matches ahead of Leandro Trossard who is a way better goalscorer and creator. Mikel Arteta needs to reward Leandro Trossard for his good performances by starting him constantly ahead of underperforming Gabriel Martinelli.
