Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Loven has shared new photos of Hope and the toddler who was branded a witch and abandoned in Akwa Ibom State.
We reported that the little girl, whose name is coincidentally Hope, was rescued late last month.
According to Ms Loven, she was diagnosed with kwashiorkor, a type of malnutrition characterized by severe protein deficiency.
The symptoms are enlarged liver, loss of appetite, bloated stomach, dehydration, hair loss, edema and dermatitis.
Her weight was only 5 kilos at the time of rescue but currently at 5.8 kilos.
Recall that the aid worker and her team rescued the male Hope on January 30, 2016, after he was branded a witch by his family and left to starve to death.
She took to Facebook on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, to share photos of the two children.
"Hope has his hands full. OMG. How cute is this ? It's just so sweet to see Hope with our newly rescued girl who's name is also Hope. Hope was the same size as her when we found him and now he is the one who takes care of others. Baby girl Hope is a little fighter. She continues to gain weight, getting more strength and she is adapting so well to her new life at Land of Hope. She is so beautiful," she wrote.
