A former Governor of Rivers State, Sir Celestine Omehia in a statement called out Nyesom Wike over some utterances he made regarding the political elders of Rivers State. According to CHANNELS TELEVISION, Omehia alleged that Wike is pained because they support the Governor of Rivers State, Fubara in the ongoing rift with the Minister. According to Omehia, Wike calling the elder statesmen a political buccaneer is the height of disrespect. He noted that Wike's quest for power is for his personal gain, not for the interest of Rivers State.
Omehia alleged that Wike thought he could continue to control Rivers State politics and tried to impeach the Governor of the state. He urged Wike to focus on his job and leave Rivers State politics alone, claiming that the people of Rivers State are tired of him. According to Omehia, elections are over, and they cannot be at political war with anybody long after the election has been concluded.
Hear him, "The FCT Minister thought that he would continue to control and abuse the resources and governance of the state but God, through the people, resisted the impeachment plot by his members of the Rivers State House of Assembly. Wike is notorious for lying against anyone, anytime, and disrespects elders at will, so there is no surprise about his outburst and criticism against innocent personalities in Rivers State.
I am not a buccaneer and my capacity to contribute to the growth and development of my state and country is not impaired. I wonder why he is pained by our support for the Governor and the Federal Government under President Tinubu. Does he want us to perpetually be at political war with everybody, even long after elections are over and governance taken over?"
