Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has expressed surprise at the criticism from former players on current players.
Guardiola said he is not surprised when such criticisms come from journalists but wondered why those who have played the game before should be in the fore-front of criticism.
He was reacting to a recent critism directed at Haaland, who scored 36 goals in the Premier League last season, by former Manchester United captain, Roy Keane.
Keane slammed Haaland following the Norwegian's little impact in City's 0-0 draw with Arsenal on Sunday, saying the 23-year-old's general play was well below Premier League level.
"I'm surprised when it comes from former players," the former Barcelona boss told the press.
"Journalists I understand but former players, I'm surprised.
"It's like former referees criticising referees... memory disappears quick".
