According to report, Urhobo, a nearby community to Okuama in Ughelli south local government area have disparaged alledge military assault in their areas following a thorough search for missing weapons stolen from soldiers during their attack last week.
According to a report from some of these communities who remain anynomous revealed that the military personnel came to their communities and undergo a thorough searching for stolen weapons from the soldiers who were killed during the attack. He alleged that soldiers threatened to launch gun attack at some of them (community leaders) if they failed to disclose where arms and ammunition were kept in the community.
The community leader purported that the military personnel arrived in the community with gunboat through waterways and military patrol vehicles on the road to the area.
He further added that the military personnel who came in troops threaten to raze their building if they failed bring out guns in the village.
One of the leader said, "They ordered everyone to lie on the ground as they dished out orders that we should bring out hidden guns"
It could be recalled that 17 military personnel who were on a peace mission to Okuama community over a longstanding land dispute were reportedly killed. The killing of these fallen soldiers have triggered reactions from Nigerians including the President. However, the Military officers have vowed to fetch out the criminals and ensure that they are brought to book.
