According to Newsmen, individuals believed to be terrorists carried out a bold attack on a military facility in Gujba town, located in the Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, on Saturday, March 23rd.

Unfortunately, the assault resulted in the death of a brave soldier and caused a military patrol vehicle to be consumed by fire, according to statements from DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, spokesperson for the Yobe State Police Command.

"The only thing I can confirm to you now is the attack. A soldier was killed, and troops and CJTF engaged the suspected terrorists," Abdulkarim stated

Reports from trustworthy individuals within the community detailed the alarming chain of events. Suspected rebels arrived in the town just past midnight, firing bullets without discrimination. Fear overwhelmed the inhabitants, leading many to seek refuge in the nearby bushes to escape the attack.

"They (suspected terrorists) stormed the town some minutes after midnight, shooting sporadically, and the majority of us took to our heels into the surrounding bushes for our dear lives," recounted Modu Bahna, a resident of Gujba.

According to another source, Dala Bukar, the assailants focused on the military base, setting fire to patrol vehicles, but they avoided harming civilians or stealing crucial supplies.

"They only attacked the two patrol vehicles in the military base where a soldier was killed," Bukar clarified.

This troubling event follows a violent clash in Delta State, resulting in the deaths of 15 soldiers. Among the casualties were two Majors, one Captain, and 12 soldiers, who tragically lost their lives while responding to a distress call amidst the conflict between Okuama and Okoloba communities in the state.
