A Nigerian woman, Wemimo, working as a band five registered nurse in the UK, has opened up on the financial challenges faced by nurses despite their seemingly substantial salaries.
In her video, the nurse revealed that her monthly salary as a band five nurse amounts to £2,767 (equivalent to approximately N5.3 million).
However, after accounting for taxes and various deductions, her take-home pay dwindles to £1,973 (equivalent to approximately N3.8 million).
Expressing concern over the adequacy of her salary to support a family, especially with children, the nurse emphasized the necessity for spouses, particularly husbands, to step up and provide additional financial assistance.
She pointed out the prevalent misconception among some husbands that their wives' nursing salaries suffice for the family's needs.
The woman went on to challenges the notion, asserting that in the UK, it is increasingly rare for families to thrive solely on one income.
In her words;
"It's high time men in the diaspora whose wives are Nurses step up and start helping in the family. I don't think I have seen any family surviving on one income in the UK."
