President Tinubu has withdrawn the nomination of Ruby Onwudiwe as a member of the Board of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The withdrawal of Onwudiwe's nomination, Torizone understands, may not be unconnected with her support for the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during the last election which Tinubu emerged as winner.
Recall that President Tinubu's letter containing Onwudiwe's nomination was read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday.
As soon as the letter was read during plenary, a screenshot of Onwudiwe's tweet showing her support and vote for Obi during the 2023 presidential election surfaced on X (Twitter).
The said tweet, which has gathered over 300 thousand views as at the time of writing this report, has been widely retweeted by some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in protest of her nomination by President Tinubu.
It was also gathered that Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Senator Solomon Adeola allegedly pointed out the impropriety of the nomination to President Tinubu last night during his meeting with Senate President Akpabio and some ranking senators.
A top source confirmed to our reporter that President Tinubu will announce Onwudiwe's replacement in the coming days.
