If Nigeria Had Closed All The Textile Factories, There Would Have Been No Adams Oshiomhole -Adebayo

The Social Democratic Party Presidential Candidate in the 2023 general election, Prince Adewole Adebayo has alleged that the closures of textile factories would have deprived the nation of influential figures like former Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. He raised concerns about the current state of textile factories around Aswani and in Kaduna, questioning their disappearance and urging the labor movement to address this issue.

He redirected the focus of the labor movement, asserting that the primary concern should be the government's inefficiency in creating employment opportunities. Despite acknowledging the government's poor performance, he criticized the current composition of the labor movement, characterizing it as even less efficient. He proposed a comprehensive review of the system to align with the objectives of the liberal movement.

He said in an interview with Newsmen, ''I want us to go back to the liberal movement of that time which is pro economy and pro productivity. How can you close all the textile factories? If Nigeria had closed all the textile factories, there would have been no Adams Oshiomhole. Where are those textile factories around Aswani area and in Kaduna? Where are they today? This is what Labour should be talking about, why is it that the government is not employing people? That is because the government is not efficient in doing its duty.

With all due respect, as bad and as poorly performing as the government is, the Labour movement, as currently constituted, is worse. The efficiency is worse. So, we need to have a system review of what we want to do. Go and study the life of Tony Ben and those who came from the Labour movement in British politics. where they were going before they got derailed by Thatcherism and all of that. So, we need to understand that the only way to solve the problem is to get people to be reproductive.''
