The case involving Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham, Getafe loanee Mason Greenwood and an alleged slur has reportedly been dismissed by La Liga.
On February 1, two guys who have earned caps for England faced off in top tier Spanish football. During that encounter, their paths intersected a few times, with Bellingham posing one particularly fierce challenge to Greenwood.
He was caught on camera mouthing something after making that tackle, with the incident reported by Getafe amid allegations of Bellingham calling Greenwood a "rapist". As part of the subsequent investigation, La Liga drafted in a lip-reading expert.
The matter in question has been withdrawn, according to Marca, which means that no disciplinary punishment will be taken because it is hard to say for sure whether Bellingham meant "rapist" or "rubbish." Greenwood, a Manchester United player, was detained in January 2022 on suspicion of attempted rape, assault, and using coercive and controlling tactics. However, those accusations were later withdrawn in February 2023.
Bellingham and Greenwood may now return their attention to their football. Greenwood is anticipated to finalise his permanent departure from Old Trafford this summer, while Bellingham, who scored 20 goals in his debut season at Santiago Bernabeu, is set to serve a domestic ban for receiving a red card following the conclusion of a contentious match against Valencia.
