As Nigerians continue to lament the rising cost of living and hunger, former President Muhammadu Buhari says he is happy with President Bola Tinubu's performance.
"I am very pleased that they are able to stabilise the situation and continue to really get concerned about Nigerians," Mr Buhari said. "I am very happy about their performance."
News Agency of Nigeria report that, (NAN) the former president was quoted to have said this in a statement by Stanley Nkwocha, spokesperson for Vice President Kashim Shettima, who visited Mr Buhari in Duara, Katsina, on Friday.
Mr Buhari's commendation of the current administration comes as protests have continued across Nigeria over the high cost of living and food prices.
Amidst Nigeria's economic downturn, prominent figures such as Wasiu "KWAM1" Ayinde and Olaiya Igwe, both Fuji singers who endorsed Mr. Tinubu, have expressed concern about the escalating cost of food in the nation.
A rebellion against Mr. Tinubu's administration is imminent, according to the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, who leads the Northern Traditional Council. These factors include growing poverty, hunger, and instability.
Food prices were already skyrocketing before Mr. Tinubu took office. But despite the fact that experts applauded Mr. Tinubu's abrupt removal of fuel subsidies and floating of the naira, petrol prices have skyrocketed from N145 to N630, and food costs have skyrocketed as the naira continues its Free fall against the dollar, now trading at over N1,600.
