More facts have emerged on why the Nigeria Football Federation and former Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro parted ways.
Peseiro announced on Friday he is leaving his post as Super Eagles head coach after his contract officially ended on February 29.
According to report, the NFF were keen to retain the 63-year-old, but the two parties could not agree on terms of a new contract.
The NFF proposed that the gaffer will be on the same $50,000 salary, while the Portuguese demanded a record monthly pay of $120,000 to continue on the job.
"He asked for $120,000 a month salary, but the NFF offered to pay him his current salary of $50,000 instead," an NFF official informed Newsmen.
"That was where negotiations broke down."
Peseiro was appointed Super Eagles head coach in May 2022.
The gaffer led the West Africans to second position at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Under his tutelage, the Super Eagles won 11, drawn four and lost seven out of 22 games.
