According to newsmen, Residents of Gonin-Gora in the troubled Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State took to the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway on Thursday, barricading the road in protest against the abduction of an unspecified number of people in the area.
The residents' demonstration was in response to an incident where kidnappers attacked the community from Wednesday night into the early hours of Thursday, seizing several residents. The ordeal, which lasted from 11:00 pm to 3:00 am, spurred the residents to express their frustration at the audacity of the bandits in targeting their community.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the armed assailants operated without interruption for over four hours, with no security presence visible. This prompted the residents to take to the highway, protesting the brazen attack on their neighborhood.
The situation on the ground was described as tense and chaotic, as the community members, particularly the youths, took a stand against the insecurity plaguing their area. The blockade caused disruption to motorists until the military arrived to disperse the protesters.
