Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president of Nigeria, stated that mismanagement of resource availability and low productivity among Nigerians are to blame for the nation's current economic predicament.
In order to guarantee efficient resource management and lessen competition at the center, he also advocated for the transfer of authority and funding from the federal government to the states and local governments.
Obasanjo appeared as a guest of honor at the public launch of Dr. Umar Ardo's book "Court and Politics," and was accompanied by Banbangida Aliyu, the former governor of Niger State. The book detailed the author's personal first-hand encounters with politics and the legal system.
In the most recent Adamawa State election, Ardo ran as the Social Democratic Party's (SDP) candidate for governor. He just lost his attempt to overturn Governor Ahmadu Fintiri's victory.
During the book launch, Northern Elders Forum member Prof. Ango Abdullahi supported efforts by certain politicians to bring Nigeria back to the Parliamentary System of Government.
According to report He Said: Nigeria's oil production is about 1.7 million barrels per day, while almost the same quantity is stolen every day, adding that other countries that produce about 5 million barrels could account for them.
