An in-form Manchester United team returned to action in the English Premier League today as they hosted Fulham at the Old Trafford Stadium. After being on an impressive four-game winning streak in the competition, the Red Devils came into this crucial encounter, having the intention of extending their recent winning record against this Fulham team.
Fulham dominated proceedings in the opening 45 minutes of this game as they created several clear-cut goalscoring chances but failed to convert any of them. Manchester United on there other hand played like the underdogs in the first period and were lucky to hold Fulham to a disappointing goalless draw at halftime.
Fulham, the better team, eventually broke the deadlock in the 65th minute of the match as Calvin Bassey found the back of the net with a powerful strike to make the scoreline 1-0. Manchester United got the equaliser in the 89th minute of the game thanks to a brilliant headed goal from Harry Maguire. Alex Iwobi eventually sealed the win for Fulham in the last minute of the game by scoring a brilliant goal to make the scoreline 2-1 at full-time.
Aston Villa on the other hand carried on with their winning mentality in the competition today when they hosted Nottingham Forest at the Villa Park Stadium. Unai Emery's men came out with an outstanding performance in the match as they comfortably defeated Nottingham Forest 4-2 thanks to Douglas Luiz's brace and goals from Ollie Wakins and Leon Bailey.
