The Nigerian actor Oyekunle Opeyemi Oluwaremi, better known as Kunle Remi, recently shared on social media his encounter while attempting to purchase a blender, highlighting how the price fluctuated when he walked around the store.
In a video, Kunle Remi said "I Wanted to buy blender, saw the price before I walk round they're already changing the price"
Remi began his narration by lamenting the current state of affairs in Nigeria, questioning the direction in which the country is heading.
He cited instances of exorbitant prices he encountered while trying to procure everyday items, illustrating the harsh realities faced by many Nigerians.
The actor recounted an incident where he went to buy turkey, only to be quoted a price far higher than expected, ,4000 Naira for one.
He expressed disbelief when inquiring about the price per kilogram, shedding light on the inflationary pressures affecting basic commodities like rice, which he said now reportedly range between 70,000 to 80,000 naira per bag.
Remi disclosed his attempt to purchase a blender. He described entering a store, noting the price of the blender, only to witness a sudden price increase upon revisiting the item after walking round the store.
The explanation provided by the store attendants was attributed to fluctuations in the exchange rate, particularly the strengthening of the US dollar against the local currency.
Expressing disbelief at the ever-rising costs, Remi mentioned reports indicating that the parallel market exchange rate had surged to 1,900 naira to a US dollar. Using exclamation, actor Kunle Remi revealed how surprised he is about the increasing on prices of commodities.
