President Bola Tinubu is currently holding an emergency meeting with state governors amid the worsening economic and security situation of the country.
Newsmen gathered that the meeting commenced at 11:30am on Thursday at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa.
Vice President Kashim Shettima; the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FTC) Chief Nyesom Wike; and Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun are also at the meeting.
Governors of Ekiti, Delta, Borno, Lagos, Kwara, Nasarawa and Edo were some sighted entering the Council Chambers for the meeting.
Also, governors of Yobe, Anambra, Akwa Ibom, Abia, Plateau, Kaduna, Sokoto, Niger, Taraba, Adamawa, Cross River, Ogun and Enugu are in attendance.
This newspaper understands that President Tinubu summoned the meeting in a bid to finding remedies to rising cost of foodstuff and insecurity ravaging the country.
The ongoing emergency meeting is expected to come up with the solution on how to mitigate the rising cost of food items, insecurity and other economic issues.
The emergency meeting, it was learnt, would be followed immediately with the monthly National Economic Council (NEC) meeting to be presided over by Vice President Shettima.
