The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been commended by President Bola Tinubu for their resilient performance in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final in Côte d'Ivoire.
President Tinubu acknowledges the challenges the team continually overcame with progressively improved performance as they advanced to the finals.
He commended the team, the coach, the crew, and the entire management team for their hard work, diligence, and sacrifice to go this far in the tournament.
The President calls on Nigerians to have a positive attitude, stressing that our tenacity, discipline, and will on the field of play have won us a huge victory in the eyes of Africa and the rest of the world.

The message by the President said, "A letter to our dear Super Eagles @NGSuperEagles
"I salute the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their tenacious performance in the final of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d'Ivoire.
"I commend the team, the coach, the crew, and the entire management team for their hard work, diligence, and sacrifice to reach this far in the tournament.
"It has been a journey marked by hurdles, which they consistently surpassed with steadily improving performances, culminating in their appearance in the finals.
"I urge my fellow Nigerians to be of good cheer. We won a great victory in the hearts of Africa and the world through our grit, rigor, and determination on the field.
"Let this event not dispirit us but unify us to work harder. We are a great nation, bound as one by our green-white-green banner, symbolizing resilience, joy, hope, duty, and untiring love.
"To our cherished Nigerian youths showcasing their talents in communities across the country, playing football in their local grounds, you too can be our heroes tomorrow. Do not relent in your pursuit. My administration is committed to making dreams come true.

Tinubu during AFCON
Tinubu rose to the top of the social media trends after the Super Eagles' loss to Ivory Coast.
The governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007, and senator for Lagos West in the Third Republic has been involved with the Super Eagles at the AFCON.
Tinubu gave the Super Eagles a motivational speech before their pivotal Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal matchup against Angola.
While on a private tour to France, President Tinubu spoke with the team via a video conversation that was shared on his son Seyi Tinubu's Instagram page.
After the game against South Africa, Tinubu praised the team for their efforts.
According to Patrice Motsepe, president of the Confederation of African Football Federations (CAF), Tinubu was scheduled to attend the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final.
He did not turn up and Nigerian football fans blamed him after the match.
