Former Nigerian international footballer Peter Osaze Odemwingie has expressed his confidence in the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final against Ivory Coast on Sunday.
According to Channels Television, Osaze, who participated in three AFCON tournaments during his career, believes that Nigeria has what it takes to emerge victorious in the upcoming match.
Despite acknowledging the strength of the hosts, Ivory Coast, Osaze highlighted the quality of players within the Nigerian squad and their collective character as key factors that could lead them to victory.
Osaze emphasised that Nigeria's previous victory over Ivory Coast in the group stage provides them with a psychological advantage heading into the final showdown.
He suggested that this win has bolstered the Super Eagles' confidence and belief in their ability to triumph once again.
Osaze said, "I think we have the upper hand mentally and emotionally. We have all the talents. We have a team with more talented players than Cote d'Ivoire. So I believe the Super Eagles have all it takes to win the AFCON on Sunday."
