Stanley Nwabali has been a revelation for Nigeria and the Super Eagles at the AFCON 2023 and is overwhelmed at how much his stock has risen.
Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has expressed his gratitude for the support and attention he has received during the Super Eagles' run to the Africa Cup of Nations final.
Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that the Chippa United goalkeeper has been one of the heroes of Nigeria's bid to lift the AFCON for the first time in 10 years.
Nwabali grateful for AFCON hype
The 27-year-old shot-stopper has taken to social media to express his thoughts on what has been the most overwhelming experience of his career so far.
In an Instagram post, Nwabali described the experience of representing the most populous African nation as 'everything' and noted that he's ready to 'sustain' his good form ahead of a historical decider against the Elephants.
"What a time to be a Nigerian and loved by all," Nwabali posted on his official Instagram account. "Being part of a team ready to give their all for this flag is everything."
After emerging as one of Nigeria's standout performers at AFCON 2023, Nwabali, who saved two spot kicks in the semifinal win against South Africa, acknowledged the hype surrounding him but reaffirmed his focus heading into Sunday's final.
"To everyone that loves Nwabali, I'm so grateful. See you all on a historical Sunday," he added.
Nigerians will put their hopes on the Chippa United star against Cote d'Ivoire in what is expected to be a pulsating AFCON 2023 climax on Sunday.
