Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly considering a change of tactics at Chelsea to salvage their season, after series of bad results.
Chelsea, on Sunday were humiliated 4-2 by Wolves, in front of their home fans.
Following the result, they currently sit 11th place in the Premier League, with their hopes of a Champions League return fading with away.
According to reports by the Standard UK, the Chelsea coach is considering a switch to a three-man defense to bolster the team's defensive stability. He believes this formation could offer better protection for Thiago Silva, who was exposed in the recent defeat to Wolves.
The potential change could debut in Wednesday's FA Cup fourth-round replay against Aston Villa, with Chelsea's next league match away to Crystal Palace on February 12.
Sunday's defeat to Wolves followed a 4-1 loss to Liverpool, giving the same defensive lapses.
Pochettino sees the new system as a way to address these weaknesses and provide cover for midfielders Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo as well.
