The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Adamu Mohammed Omadefu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, as the winner of the Keana Constituency seat in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, according to reports on DAILY POST.
The announcement followed a keenly contested rerun election held on Saturday, mandated by the Court of Appeal, Abuja, following a November 2023 order.
The rerun election unfolded in five polling units within Agaza ward of Keana Local Government Area, including Kofar Sarki 001, Kofar Inuwa 002, Central Primary School A 003, Central Primary School B 004, and Kofar Gazagu 005.
Dr. Hassan Imam, INEC's Returning Officer for the election, disclosed that Omadefu secured a total of 557 votes, surpassing his closest rival, Basil Osheka of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 470 votes.
The additional votes from the rerun will be added to the candidates' totals from the March 18, 2023, general elections.
With the rerun votes factored in, Omadefu's overall tally now stands at 8,069 votes, while the PDP candidate scored a total of 7,917 votes.
