Naira Slump: Fuel Price May Go Up Again, Marketers Warn

The fall of the naira against the United States dollar, coupled with the recent rise in global crude oil prices, is making Nigerians apprehensive of a possible hike in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol.
Although the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and other oil marketers have not announced any increase in petrol price, they confirmed that the scarcity of foreign exchange and crude oil price rise were key factors that determined PMS price.
Petrol price moved up from N198/litre in May to over N500/ litre in June after President Bola Tinubu removed the subsidy on PMS.
The cost jumped again to over N600/litre in July, and there were concerns that it might rise further in August, going by the crash of the naira against the dollar.
The naira dropped below N900 against the dollar on Thursday at the parallel market. It also fell against the US dollar at the official Importers and Exporters forex window.

Anglican bishop warns Igbos against calling for another war
Archbishop Amos Madu, the Pioneer Archbishop of the Enugu Anglican Ecclesiastical Province, issued a strong warning against those advocating for another war in Nigeria. Speaking in Enugu, he emphasized that those making such calls did not experience the harsh realities of the 30-month Nigerian civil war (1967-1970). Madu described the war as genocidal, unbearable, and highlighted the extreme hardships faced, including widespread starvation and curable diseases. He urged elders to guide the youth, preventing them from repeating the mistakes that could lead to another civil war. Madu emphasized the need for gratitude, stating that the Igbo nation had failed to properly thank God for ending the war in 1970.
Drama In Court As Suspect Attempts Suicide

Palpable tension enveloped an Ikeja High Court on Tuesday when a suspect, Ayoko Oluwatobi, attempted to commit suicide.
Oluwatobi, 25, is standing trial before Justice Hakeem Oshodi, whose courtroom is situated on the second floor of a two-storey building and directly opposite the second gate of the court complex.
The defendant is facing a six-count charge bordering on causing grievous bodily harm, damage to property and membership of an unlawful society.
After his counsel moved his bail application, praying the court to admit him to bail on a liberal term, prosecution objected to it, saying that the defendant was a flight risk.
After listening to both lawyers, Oshodi adjourned the case until April 9 for ruling on the bail application.
Apparently dissatisfied with the adjournment, the defendant started tapping prosecution team members, saying they were his friends and should release him.
When he was being taking out of the courtroom, the defendant started headbutting the wall, shouting: "I want to die, I can't wait till April."
He climbed the window of the courtroom in an attempt to jump down from the two-storey building.
