Why I Chose 48-Member Cabinet - Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has explained the reason for the constitution of a 48-member Federal Executive Council (FEC).

Newsmen report that, the president gave the reason yesterday while speaking when he received a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), led by its president, Archbishop Daniel Okoh.

The president's cabinet, which has the largest membership since 1999, has come under public condemnation at a time of economic downturn when the government is expected to save the cost of governance.

Tinubu called on Christian leaders to support the administration's ongoing fight against corruption by encouraging Nigerians to have a change of mindset on money-related matters.

Nigeria is the only nation we have. If you do not preach to Nigerians about understanding, tolerance, tenacity, and hope, you are damaging the nation and no one will assist us in mending it.

"Let's have a conversation; a citizen is not made good by publicly denouncing their country. Nigerians need to be admonished to adopt a new perspective and to stop making money their god or master". I think Nigeria will prosper and we shall reach the Promised Land.

Please let us know if you see any shortcomings in my government; we are here to listen. Thanks to your prayers and the divine will of God Almighty, I am here today. I've set a daily goal for myself to treat every Nigerian fairly. I've received a lot of criticism, some of which have addressed the reasoning behind my cabinet's size. We must offer individuals a task they can do if we are to have productive, adaptable, and resourceful people. To cut costs, you risk combining too many ministries, which will lead to a future of inefficiency and failure.

The president said in a statement provided by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, "Nigeria needs to turn the corner to grow, and we must give people challenges they can handle, and that is what we are doing."

Speaking about his administration's commitment to combating corruption and other vices, Tinubu stated that fighting all sorts of vices must be pursued because it is our sacred duty to make sure that the nation is set up for the development of all Nigerians.
