The Ghanaian Black Stars have just missed out on qualifying for the knockout stages of the 2023 African Cup of Nations, which is being held in Ivory Coast.
After losing their opening match against Cape Verde and drawing brilliantly 2-2 with Egypt, the stars drew 2-2 with Mozambique in their final group game and were unable to advance to the competition's following round.
Ghana out of AFCON 2023
For the Black Stars, this was their second consecutive elimination from an AFCON competition in the group stages.
Ghana failed to persevere and spent extended periods of time as the second-best team in Abidjan, despite Mozambique being one of the lowest-ranked countries in the AFCON and a team that has never won a match at the competition.
Ghana's two points and negative goal differential sealed the deal, placing them in third position and almost ensuring that they would again be eliminated from the Cup of Nations following the group round.
