A stakeholder in the Rivers State chapter of the PDP, Okazu Powers, has explained the key difference between how the PDP was led in Rivers State during Wike's tenure as governor and how the party is being led during Fubara's tenure. The politician discussed the issue on AIT when he was asked if Wike experienced interference from his party leader while he was governor.
Addressing the topic, Okazu said, "You must understand that when Wike was governor, he was the leader of the state, but Dr. Peter Odili was the PDP state leader at the time. However, the situation was different because Dr. Peter Odili had transitioned to an elder statesman who was not politically active. Therefore, Wike led both the Rivers State and the party.
He added, "In Fubara's case, Wike is still an active political player. Wike is the PDP leader in Rivers State, while Fubara is the leader of the state.
