Miyetti Allah vigilante outfit rescues kidnap victim in Nasarawa

The Nomad Vigilante Group, a quasi-security outfit representing the Fulani community in Nasarawa State, has rescued a kidnap victim.

Operatives of the group, under the leadership of State Commander Alhaji Akajo A. Gyara, rescued the victim, Bashir Mohammed, in an operation carried out on Sunday morning.

Mallam Suleiman Tasiu, National Publicity Secretary of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.

According to the statement, Bashir was kidnapped on Saturday night by unknown persons around Gitata, Karu Local Government Area of the state.

Torizone reports that the Nomad Vigilante Group, inaugurated on January 17, 2024, by the Fulani sociocultural group Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, consists of a first batch of 1,144 members.

The vigilante initiative aims to address the escalating rate of kidnapping and other criminal activities in Nasarawa State.

Alhaji Abdullahi Bello Bodejo, the association's president, stated that the vigilante group's primary objectives include promoting peace in rural communities, securing the livelihoods of farmers and herders, aiding in information gathering, and providing intelligence to Nigerian security agencies regarding criminal activities in local communities.

"The Nomad Vigilante Group is not merely an initiative; it is a manifestation of our shared commitment to fight against banditry, cattle rustling, hunger, and poverty," stated Bodejo during the inauguration in Lafia.

Bodejo urged operatives of the vigilante outfit to collaborate with relevant security agencies to identify and apprehend criminal elements within their ranks for the overall peace of the state.
