Without many doubts, Chelsea football club will most definitely remain keen on further strengthening their goalscoring options by signing a new striker for manager Mauricio Pochettino before the ongoing January transfer window closes.
The Premier League giants splashed the cash to improve their current goalscoring options last summer as they completed the signings of Nicolas Jackson, Deivid Washington, Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku.
However, Christopher Nkunku has struggled with varying injuries since the start of the 2023/2024 football season while Nicolas Jackson is yet to hit the ground running after missing alot of chances so far this season.
As a result of that, Chelsea football club have been heavily reliant on Cole Palmer to get the goals and the Blues are now on the lookout for a new striker and have been linked with a move for experienced Al-Ittihad centre-forward Karim Benzema before the January transfer window closes.
The 36-year-old France International, who signed up for Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad after departing LaLiga giants Real Madrid football club back in 2023 has been an important member of the first-team squad since he made the move last year.
The experienced striker has enjoyed a brilliant start to life in Saudi Arabia so far this ongoing 2023/2024 season, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists in 20 appearances in all competitions.
His excellent performances in front of goal for Al-Ittihad is believed to have caught the attention of Premier League side Chelsea football club and according to reports from The Sun, the Blues are keen on signing him.
The reports further claimed that Chelsea football club are really interested in the experienced Karim Benzema and are making some moves to bring him to the Stamford Bridge on a short-term deal in January.
It is believed that Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to add more firepower to his goalscoring options this month and he has identified the experienced Karim Benzema as a needed addition to his squad on a loan deal.
But with Arsenal football club also interested in Karim Benzema, it remains to be seen where the experienced centre-forward will choose to go if he eventually gets to leave Saudi-Arabian side Al-Ittihad before the January transfer window closes.
