David de Gea's exit last summer forced Manchester United to go in search of a new goalkeeper in the transfer market.
One of their targets for the Spaniard's replacement was 21-year old Japanese keeper Zion Suzuki who was fresh from winning the AFC Champions League with Urawa Reds at the time.
Surprisingly, Suzuki rejected the chance of signing for one of the biggest football club in England, and it has proven to be the best decision made by the young goalie.
Having been rejected, United eventually went for Turkish keeper Altay Bayindir who is yet to make a single appearance for the Red Devils.
It's worth noting that Suzuki joined Belgian side St. Truiden same summer and became a regular starter for them which played a key role in his selection for the Asian Cup this January.
Had Zion opted to jump at the opportunity to sign for a club as big as Man United, he may have been treated the same way as Bayindir which could have stunted his growth and stopped him from making Japan's squad for the Asian Cup.
