Nigeria needs a win against Ivory Coast on Thursday as failure to secure all three points in that fixture could see the Super Eagles struggle to make it to the round of 16 stages of the tournament. The Super Eagles were overwhelmed in their opening match against Equatorial Guinea yesterday, as poor finishing on their part prevented them from securing all three points.
Jose Peseiro will need to make a huge change to his starting lineup for the game and below are two players i think he should drop.
Victor Osimhen.
The Super Eagles play a lot of aerial ball and although Victor Osimhen seems to be able to score headers, his conversion rate is poor. Paul Onuachu should start ahead of him on Thursday as the 29 year-old has the height advantage and clinicality to score effortlessly from crosses or set-pieces.
Moses Simon.
There should be no reason for Moses Simon to start the game on Thursday as Kelechi Iheanacho should play in the right wing ahead of him. Iheanacho is a better threat on the right wing, as he excels at link up play and attempting shots that would yield a goal.
