According to Al Jazeera, The Lebanese militant group Hezbollah said it carried out a bomb attack on an Israeli tank near the border on Saturday, killing and wounding some of its crew members. The attack was a response to Israel's recent airstrikes on Syria, which Hezbollah said targeted its positions and allies.
According to Hezbollah's media wing, the group planted an explosive device at the "Metulla site", a military outpost on the Israeli side of the border, and detonated it when the tank approached.
The blast destroyed the tank and caused casualties among the Israeli soldiers inside, Hezbollah said.
Israel has not confirmed or denied the attack, but said it was aware of the reports and was investigating the incident.
The Israeli military said it had increased its alertness and readiness in the northern sector, and warned Hezbollah of "severe consequences" if it continued its aggression.
The attack came amid heightened tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, which have been engaged in a covert war for years.
Israel views Hezbollah as a proxy of Iran, and has repeatedly targeted its weapons and fighters in Syria, where the group is fighting alongside the Syrian government.
Hezbollah, which is considered a terrorist organization by Israel and the US, has vowed to retaliate for any Israeli strikes on its interests.
