After finishing the first half of the 2023/2024 Premier League season with double digits in goals, Mohamed Salah started 2024 with two goals and an assist to his name against Newcastle United yesterday in a six goals classic Premier League thriller.
The Egyptian winger has now led his team to the top of the Premier League table with 45 points, three points above second placed Aston Villa and five points above third placed Manchester City (with a game in hand).
Sadly, Mohamed Salah will be required to miss a few league games that could stretch for about 2-3 weeks when he joins his national team to take part in the upcoming Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) later this January by which time Liverpool will have to do without him.
As things stand, the 31 year old winger is currently top for both goals and assists in the league which means the rest of the players will want to double up and increase their stats,as Mo Salah's absence soon from the league will come as a big booster to them.
Erling Haaland,Dominic Solanke and Son Heung-Min are currently giving Salah a run for his money as regards the top scorers, while Ollie Watkins,Pedro Neto and Kieran Trippier are breathing down his neck in the assists department.
