Salah reveals thoughts at half-time that changed his game against Newcastle

Mohamed Salah has revealed thoughts that changed his game against Newcastle at halftime, that included changing his boots.

After missing a penalty in the first half, Salah sought for solutions to his performance, and came up with the decision to change his boots, while improving on his impact in the game.

"At half-time I was like, 'OK, are you going to leave for the national team with that performance? Not really.' I had to really focus and step up to make a difference, and I managed to do so," Salah said.

Despite the slow start that saw him miss from the spot, the Egyptian international finished the match with two goals in Liverpool's 4-2 win against Newcastle.

The victory ensured Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Speaking about his boot change, Salah said, "The other ones, I missed the pen with, I just trained with it yesterday.

"It's not superstitious because you play with many boots, but when I felt like it was going to play in my head it was like, OK, I'll change the boots."

He added that the one he changed into, helped clear his mind, to focus on the game.

Entering the second half, Salah's performance improved almost immediately, scoring shortly after the break to give Liverpool the lead and continued to play a key role in their attacks.

He assisted in setting up a goal for Liverpool with a well placed pass to Diogo Jota and provided an outside foot cross for Cody Gakpo to score.

He succeeded in scoring again when he successfully converted a controversial penalty, redeeming himself for the earlier miss.
