Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur lost their games today in the English Premier League. The Gunners lost 2-0 to West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium while Spurs succumbed to a 4-2 defeat to Brighton at the Amex Stadium.
A win for Mikel Arteta's side could have propelled them to the top of the Premier League standings but the defeat to the Hammers leaves them in second position with 40 points, two points behind League Leaders, Liverpool. Goals from Thomas Soucek and Konstantinos Mavropanos proved to be enough as David Moyes' side cruised to a win.
Ange Postecoglou's side could have also moved to fourth position with a win against Brighton, but two goals from the Seagulls within 25 minutes of the first half through Jack Hinshelwood and Joao Pedro set Roberto De Zerbi's side on course to win the game and the hosts further solidified their lead with a third and fourth goal in the second half.
Spurs did score two late goals through Alejo Veliz and Ben Davies in the 81st and 85th minutes but the home side held on to win the game.
